A "fat bike" is a bicycle with over-sized tires designed for low ground pressure to allow riding on soft unstable terrain, such as snow and sand. In several states, fat bike-dedicated groomed winter trails have been created but at this time there are no dedicate fat bike trails in Hyalite. However, fat bikes are allowed on Hyalite's marked or groomed snowmobile trails.
To ride a fat bike on groomed snowmobile trails in Montana you must purchase a Trail Pass. Trail Passes are valid for three seasons and are $18. Trail Passes apply to all “mechanized equipment” including; snowmobiles, motorized snow bikes, and fat bikes.
Friends of Hyalite is a 501(c)3, donation-driven organization that draws on a broad base of community engagement and support. Since 2010, 93 cents of every dollar raised has gone directly to our programs and winter road plowing. By making a tax-deductible gift today, you will help ensure Hyalite remains enjoyable for all for generations to come.
