GiveBig to Friends of Hyalite
We are so fortunate to have Hyalite Canyon as our place of solace to help us take a breath and relax. Dealing with COVID-19 in the Gallatin Valley has been no exception as we all strive to maintain our mental and physical heath amid layoffs, shuttered businesses and uncertainty. Whether in the wintertime climbing Hyalite’s world-class ice routes, or in the summer to soak up the sun on the reservoir and hiking trails, Hyalite’s beautiful peaks, clear waters and quiet spaces provide an endless world of recreation so close to home.
Friends of Hyalite is participating in GiveBig Gallatin Valley – from 6pm on Thursday, April 30th until 6pm on Friday, May 1st. This annual event is an important fundraising opportunity for non-profits in the Gallatin Valley, including Friends of Hyalite. Although we are sad we cannot see you in person at one of our GiveBig booths this year, we encourage you to participate in any way you can — whether by donating (every dollar counts!) or simply by sharing the link below and spreading the word.
A few things your money helps to support:
Plowing Hyalite Canyon Rd through the winter months.
Pumping trailhead outhouses.
Keeping high traffic areas, such as the reservoir parking lot, free of trash and nails that can do damage to your cars and boats.
Stewardship projects such as our fence pulling evenings to keep animals and hikers safe.
Funding our Hyalite Steward, Maria Vignati, who spent 52 days working in Hyalite last summer, coordinating volunteers, educating campers about proper food storage, cleaning outhouses, cutting firewood for the Maxey and Window Rock cabins.
We know this is a difficult time to be asking for money, but your support – in whatever way you can give – is essential to ensuring Hyalite is accessible and enjoyable for all and remains a place of peace and escape for you and future generations.
