Ice Fishing

The Hyalite Reservoir provides an excellent location for ice fishing through the winter months. There is a daily limit of 5 for trout and grayling are catch-and-release only. A valid fishing license is required. Since the Reservoir provides a majority of the drinking water for the Gallatin Valley, motorized vehicle use is prohibited on the ice. This includes vehicles, snowmobiles, ATV’s, motorcycles, etc. Power augers are allowed for drilling holes.
